The Ace

Everything about this place is perfection. A friend takes me here for brunch and says " this will be the best brunch you've ever had ". I reply, "What makes it so special ". He replies, "You'll see". He was not over speaking. The vintage diner vibe is a total vibe. Our server was impeccable without coming across as working for a 30% tip. And the food.... The potatoes were seasoned to perfection. The bacon. THE BACON.....SO THICK AND DELICIOUS. And the hollandaise sauce is so creamy and flavorful. Just. Go. What a wonderful experience and gem in the city.

If you haven't already been to the Ace for Brunch, let me tell you, you are missing out. Although quite small and located on the west end of Toronto, the food the team behind the Ace are serving is no joke. They have a small and tight menu, but everything is full of flavours. Of all, the heuvos rancheros we had, were our favorite and a must order every time if you see it on the menu. 100% a go to for us.

Great spot for weekend brunch. Been here a few times and eaten different plates: Omelette and potatoes are great for a lighter meal. Tastes just how you'd want them too. A really good choice. Fresh orange juice is exactly what you'd expect. Perfect for all you non-coffee drinker our there in the morning. The French toast is just ok. Felt like eating dry toast with cutleries....once you get past the top layer of toppings. The toppings are good but I don't feel it's a cohesive dish. Least favourite item I've had on the menu.

Maybe one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The big table at the front by the window is a cozy and comfortable vibe, and the food was so flavourful and delicious. Cocktails were also on point. The service was so personable and friendly and Bree was the best. We will definitely be back and we’ll be recommending this place!

Super intimate setting. Cocktails were amazing. We had the El Johnny Poncho, a sidecar, El Pelican and the El Vuelve la vida. All the apps had a generic title but had some kind of Mediterranean spin on them and were super delicious. Had the pork and chicken, how they transformed something so common and made it so juicy and tasty shows the talent of the chef. Great place for a date!

Located on Roncesvalles Ave ("Roncy" for those in the know :) ) on just east of High Park, north of the Gardiner and south of Bloor, The Ace is amongst a stripe of small but trendy casual premium quality restaurants. The bistro is typical to many of those smaller frontage, narrow and deep locales with a bar along one edge; although The Ace has a slightly more casual than trendy ambiance (not a bad thing, just an observation). The menu is tight cover all the main food groups...meat, fish, and fowl but there are not a lot of options within. We were a larger group so got to order a number of dishes...for appetizers we had Sourdough Bread (special order but very good), Squash and Burrata (good), Sautéed Chanterelles (also good), and the Fire Roasted Eggplant (very good). For our mains we had The Ace Burger (very good, as expected), Steak + Frites (good...the meat was a bit too think for a hanger steak but the fries were excellent), Roasted Chicken (good), and a few orders of the Pan Seared Halibut (very good). Dessert was shared and we only had two dishes...Tiramisu and Basque Cheesecake (both of which were good). Service was very attentive and friendly and the meal, considering the size of our party and that the resto was quite busy was quick, with no complaints. Enjoy!

The atmosphere is great in here. Very chill vibes and the service was really good. Would have given this place a 3 if it were not for the above. My burger tasted completely burnt. They may have wanted to sear it on each side but it was such a thick burn so I was pretty disappointed because its all I could taste. We also had the steak, and although it was cooked very well it was too salty so again, it ruined the taste. For the price we paid we were pretty bummed about our food and we wish we would have said something there but didn't want to ruin our night.

OMG! MUST EAT HERE! Came here with my gf about 10 mins after opening, I think I had the best brunch I've ever had in the city! Ordered the Benny with smoked salmon and potatoes, I was licking my fingers by the end of it. My gf ordered huevos rancheros, it was also incredibly delicious! To top it off ordered the french toast, it is a MUST! Their in house ceaser will wake you up! Incredibly friendly staff, very responsive and fast service. Definitely recommend everyone to give this place a shot!
